CREATE A NOVEL ART PROJECT WORKSHOP
Saturday, March 7 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm

Artist, Andrew Thornton will be conducting a technique-based workshop at the Ligonier Valley Library on Saturday, March 7 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.  He will show participants how to make works of wearable art from recycled books by creating rolled paper beads and components crafted from homemade paper clay.  He will also be sharing the tips and tricks of working with methyl cellulose to decoupage picture frames or jewelry boxes.  This fast-paced workshop is studded with useful techniques that can be utilized for a Novel Art project or the making of home décor items, jewelry and gifts for family and friends.

Registration is required. The cost for the workshop is $10 for materials. Payment is requested at the time of registration at the Ligonier Valley Library.  Class size is limited.

Andrew Thornton is a professional fine artist with a degree from the School of Visual Arts in mixed media and painting.  He left the hustle and bustle of New York City for Ligonier.  His work can be seen in private collections around the globe.  He is a regular contributor to books and magazines and has appeared on the PBS show, “Beads, Baubles, and Jewels.”  Andrew is also co-owner and Creative Director of Allegory Gallery in Ligonier.

Novel Art Necklace Did you ever wonder what happens to old books? Sadly, they end up in landfills - sad for the books and also for the environment. Approximately 54.3 million tons of paper and paperboard go into landfills every year. And recycling isn't always an option since many facilities can't process the binding glue.

But now, with a little imagination and time, you can save those books by turing them into Novel Art - and help the Ligonier Valley Library in the process!

The best part.... Novel Art isn't just for adults! Both students and adults can all participate!
