Volunteers also meet on the 1st Friday of every month from 10am to noon to sort books for the book sale & store.

What Not To Donate?

We love donations, but some items simply do not sell:

Encyclopedias, Reader's Digest Condensed Books, Travel Books (more than 3 yrs. old), Business Texts, Consumer information (more than 3 yrs. old), Tax information, Medical or nursing texts, Law books, Computer books (more than 3 yrs. old), Textbooks (more than 3 yrs. old), Phonograph records, Newspapers, and Books that are damaged - coverless, spineless or missing pages; damp, mildewed, stained or smelly; and extensively highlighted or underlined.

Welcome to the Re-Readables bookstore! Located on the library's main floor, the bookstore features gently-used books and more for adults and children. Everything on the shelves has been donated. Also, Re-Readables comes with a Guilt-Free Guarantee because every purchase benefits the Ligonier Valley Library's operating fund.

We love your book donations, but...
The Ligonier Valley Library has recently been overwhelmed with donations of older used hardcover books and videos. Due to limited storage and resale value, the library will no longer accept videos and hardcover books published before 2012.

The library will continue to accept hardcover novels that are 3 years old or newer and hardcover non-fiction books that are 15 years old or newer. Recently published magazines are also acceptable for the Re-Readables bookstore. The library will also accept DVDs, Blu-rays, mass market and trade paperback novels, CDs and children's books of any age as long as they are in excellent condition.

Donations of older books and materials of local historical interest are always welcome and should be brought to the attention of the Pennsylvania Room staff.

Any local church or organization that would like to have the older used books and videos, at no cost, may contact the library at 724-238-6451. The organization will be responsible for transporting the books.

Re-Readables book store has been a part of the Ligonier Valley Library since its Grand Opening on August 16, 2007.
