In October 2003, the Ligonier Valley Library Board of Trustees announced the launch of a newly created planned giving program named The Vine Society -- Legacy Giving. The beautiful sculpture displayed above the library's circulation desk, The Vine of Knowledge by Pittsburgh artist Virgil Cantini, inspired the program's name.
| It has long been a goal of the Board of Trustees and library staff to encourage the continuous pursuit of knowledge by developing a community library with a diverse collection, current technological tools, innovative services and a dynamic space for all ages. Achieving and maintaining this goal can be a financial challenge. As part of our plan to be fiscally responsible for future generations, the Board of Trustees voted in 2003 to formalize a Planned Giving Program with established policies for gift acceptance and protection of confidential information. |  |
While many people are familiar with making a current gift of cash, stock or other property, a planned gift is a method by which an individual can give over a period of time or at his or her death. The Vine Society Planned Giving Program in no way diminishes the importance of annual giving.
The members of the Planned Giving Committee feel privileged to be involved in developing a program that will grow to benefit the library, the community, our children and our children's children. We are very encouraged by the reaction and response we have already received. Thank you for communicating that to us!
DESIGNATING A BEQUEST TO THE LIGONIER VALLEY LIBRARY
While there are a variety of ways to make a planned gift to the Ligonier Valley Library, many people find that a bequest within their will is the most appropriate way to make a planned gift. If considering a bequest, please work with your attorney to incorporate the following language within your will:
I give, devise and bequeath to the Ligonier Valley Library of Ligonier, Pennsylvania
