The game is afoot! The Death in the Beanstack Reading Challenge begins on Friday, February 26 and runs through Friday, December 10. The challenge is free and for ages 18 and older. Everyone is welcome to join!
Loosely based on our mystery/thriller book discussion group, Death in the Stacks, participants will read and review six books. The selections can be found under the Activity Badges. There are two options with each badge - a Library's Choice and a Reader's Choice (primarily for those who have already read the Library's pick). You only need to complete one of the two options to earn the badge, but feel free to do both. Readers will then need to write a review of the six books that you read. Prizes will be offered periodically over the nine month challenge. FYI: We did not read all of the selected titles; some may contain adult situations and language. Also, everyone is welcome to join the challenge, you do need to live within driving distance to win any possible prizes. If a title is available, participants can use ebooks and/or audiobooks instead of print books. While we would also love for you to borrow the items from the library, this is not a requirement.
Follow the library on Facebook and/or Instagram @liglibrarypa for updates and interactive posts relating to the challenge. If you want to have a more in-depth discussion on any of the books, then request to join our private Death in the Stacks Facebook group. Also keep an eye out for possible in-person or virtual discussions.
If you participated in previous Ligonier Valley Library Beanstack challenges, then you just need to sign in on the website or app and register for this challenge. If this is your first time, you will need to register. The process only takes a few minutes. Download the Beanstack app to your smartphone or tablet for a fun easy way to also track your reading minutes.
If you have any questions or need help with the site or with joining the challenge, please stop in or call the library at 724-238-6451. Happy Reading!
