Ligonier Valley Library Association

Budget & Finance
Over a series of meetings in the late summer and early falls the Budget and Finance Committee met with the new director to review library budgeting policy, instruct on past best practices, and finalize the 2021 Ligonier Valley Library budget. In addition, the committee conducted a review of an RFP for future library auditing services. The library selected and contracted with a Ligonier-based firm and WOBE.
Personnel
After establishing a planning process to interview and select a new Library Director, the Personnel Committee reviewed and met with more than two dozen candidates. The committee successfully hired and assisted in the onboarding process of the new director. The committee further worked with the director to review staffing and policy.
Community Relations
Despite the cancelation of the library's Books & Brew fundraiser in-person event, the Community Relations Committee successfully worked with local donors to make this a positive funding source for the library. In addition, the committee assisted with other board members and the library staff for the unveiling event of retired Library Director Janet Hudson's portrait.

Buildng and Grounds
The Building and Grounds Committee met both in person and via Zoom this year. In addition to setting a plan for future quarterly meetings, a formal yearly walk-through of the library and evaluation of immediate needs was conducted. A library checklist was drafted and will be implemented in 2021.
Strategic Planning
A goal of the board and library this year was to outline and set the foundation for future Strategic Planning. Following committee meetings and board consultation, an agreement with The Hill Group was executed to begin work with the Ligonier Valley Library in early 2021.
Development and Planned Gifting
The committee assisted in the creation of the membership drive letter in the late summer to kick off our annual membership drive and outreach to the community. In addition, discussion and review was conducted to prepare the gifting pledge brochure for publication. The committee will meet to discuss further plans for the library's new donation section on the redesigned website and ideas for incorporating future funding options.
Endowment
The Ligonier Valley Library Endowment is managed by Manning & Napier through our service team of David Immonen and Teyonna Harris. The Endowment Committee met twice in 2020 to review the portfolio on March 25, 2020 and October 21, 2020. The market value of the portfolio as of September 30, 2020 was approximately $6.6 million (a new high).
