We are excited to expand our volunteer program! We are looking for reliable members to help us better serve our community. We value the gift of your time and talents to share with our patrons.

Current volunteer opportunities:

  • Facilitate a library program - For example: run a book club, host a crafting hour, etc. (the possibilities are endless!)

  • Hold a presentation or workshop - Do you have a topic that you are particularly knowlegeable about, or a skill you can teach others? Share your talent with the community!

  • Help with the seed library - We need people who are knowledgable/ interested in gardening!

  • Shelve books/ shelf read (make sure books/ materials are in the correct place)

  • Decorate the library for various occasions

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the Ligonier Valley Library Volunteer Application!

We expect that volunteer interest will outpace the amount of available volunteer opportunities.  Please note that completing an application does not guarantee acceptance into the volunteer program.

Pennsylvania law requires all employees and volunteers over the age of 18 to undergo background checks if they have direct contact with children.

  • Volunteers may need clearances depending on the situation. If they are required for the type of volunteering opportunity you are interested in, we will contact you about obtaining them.
  • Anyone over 18 that is volunteering in our Youth Services Department must have their clearances before they are able to volunteer.
